Get off the tourist trail and join us for an unforgettable night on the town in vibrant Santo Domingo! Visit pubs, clubs and bars with us and get the inside track on the city’s eclectic nightlife. Discover the locals’ favourite hang-outs, taste some delectable Dominican food and learn how to party, Dominican-style!
our night out in Santo Domingo will begin in a local tapas bar, where you will try a typical Dominican-style appetiser, known as montadito de platano stuffed with carne mechada, alongside a frost-covered beer — brewed on the island, naturally.
After lining our stomachs with some delicious food, we’ll make our way to one of the coolest bars in the city, a shoe factory and atmospheric garden bar located inside a colonial ruin, covered with giant roots and beautiful, twinkly lights.
From here we’ll take a stroll through the narrow, romantic streets of the old colonial city towards a pub that buzzes with rock ‘n’ roll music. Most nights there’s a live band playing some of your favourite hits from the ’80s and ’90s.
After rocking out, we’ll go more low key with our next stop: a bar that fuses folk and alternative music, demonstrating the best of the bohemian and funky music styles of the Dominican scene.
Next we will stop at an art gallery and library bar, for a spot of high-brow drinking.
Then we’ll take you to a bar regularly frequented by surfers and alternative musicians. Here we’ll enjoy a glass of sublime Dominican rum to continue the party mood!
To end our tour, we have something a bit different for you, as we make our way to a theatre bar with a beautiful Spanish patio. We’ll enjoy a drink and a spot of amateur dramatics, as local actors put on short shows throughout the evening!
Our tour ends here, but if you’re only just getting started, your guide can recommend (and escort you to) a fantastic Latin music bar, where you can show off your killer dance moves and party ’til late into the night!
Note that the food samples may vary from tour to tour depending on what is available that day

My guide, José Uribe, could not have been any nicer or knowledagble. I learned much more than I expected. I'm a details person and I sure got them! Don't hesitate scheduling this tour, and if you can, request José. read less

The food was very good and the rum and other drinks quite enjoyable. The size of our groups was way too big -- I'd thought we'd agreed on 24 person groups but ended up in 48 person groups where it was impossible for everyone to hear the guide -- and a small number of people didn't get to try everything on the buffet, but overall we were very well taken care of and I'm happy to recommend Jose and his team. read less

It was outstanding, literally, and Jose was exceptional. I (we) tend to avoid larger groups because my (our) preference is to delve into the nature of living there. Jose's in-depth knowledge of the socio-economic, education, laws, history, religions and spirituality were second to none in my experience. There was nothing he could not answer with intelligence and a full depth of factual comprehension. Every place we stopped was described in full and sensitive detail. He also came to my rescue. My airline had lost my luggage and advised me that it would arrive overnight to the hotel. We were scheduled to leave the next day on a cruise. I also lost my shaving kit with much-needed prescriptions. I was assured that my bag would be waiting for me but fortunately, Jose agreed to drive us to the airport. He lead us not to the baggage claim area but to the main control centre for baggage for my airline. I would never have found it on my own. He spoke at length with the right employee who dispatched someone it find it for me because it wasn't where it was supposed to be. I may have boarded the cruise without my luggage if it weren't for Jose. He also took me to a pharmacy and managed to get me replacement prescriptions before boarding in time. This man goes well beyond the call of duty for his clients. He is affable, trustworthy, intelligent, extremely knowledgeable and a pleasure to be with. I wish he were available at every country we visited. I feel blessed that we were able to book him. read less
